After watching Thabeet for three years (including this past season at every game) I know he deserves to be a top 5 draft pick. The improvement he showed from his sophomore to junior year was amazing. After playing basketball for only a few years, Thabeet was the NCAA defensive player of the year two years in a row. Aside from his daunting height and blocked shots, Thabeet's offensive game has improved drastically. In warm-ups this year I saw him shoot consistent 15 footers. Its only a matter of time until that becomes a part of his game. In the paint he is a little soft, but the intensity he needs is only going to come with experience with the big boys.
I saw Thabeet during Spring Weekend at UConn about three weeks ago. I shook his hand and said Good luck next year, Thabeet. He responded Thanks, in the deepest voice I've ever heard.
Anyway, heres a video (
Pre-draft workout tour: Hasheem Thabeet) of Thabeet working out recently, getting ready for the NBA. Watching all 7'3" of him run up that sand dune kills me.
