Dante Stallworth pleaded guilty to DUI manslaughter yesterday. Though he faced up to 15 years in prison, he was punished with only 30 days and an additional two years on house arrest. I dont know how long criminals with the same charges face on average, but this seems low.
I dont understand how cases like this can slip through the court so easily. Pro athletes and celebrities dont deserve any breaks from the law. They should be tried on the same level as every other citizen, especially because they are in the spotlight. Punishing them so minimally in cases that are seen nationally lowers the moral compass of those who see the results, namely children who admire them.
